Muybridge showed that single images could be stitched together and made into a kind of film. In the 20 years after his famous horse sequence 2 major inventions signalled the beginning of the Movie business.
1. 1884 American George Eastman created a flexible film strip coated in emulsion
2. 1895 The Lumiere Brothers invented a cinematograph camera which could record and project movies.
Lumiere Brothers credited with making the first ever films in the 1890s - including the famous train arriving at La Ciotat station. In the next 120 years Silent movies are replaced by Talkies and Black and White gave way to Colour. Now most films are made using Digital technology
