First session - getting to grips with Dslr handling and learning how to use Focus Lock to take control of image sharpness. Simple technique using a half press on the shutter button to LOCK focus and then re-framing to make the picture you want. FL is confirmed by a beep and/or a solid flash of colour or a coloured rectangle in the viewfinder. Students practice by shooting an image with the subject centrally positioned - and then take a second image with the subject placed at the edge of the frame. Once you have it you'll forget about it but you'll be doing it every time you take a picture.
