Lessons we learned last week In difficult light the most successful images were made with the reflector CLOSE to the model. As images they were also successful because of careful framing and clean backgrounds. Today - with bright sunshine - it will be much easier to bounce light but there will be new challenges. Here are some tips for working on your Fashion shoots 1. Models should be in the shade - or with backs to the sunlight. 2. Reflectors should be white or gold. If you use the silver side you must not reflect direct sunlight. It's much too bright and could even damage eyes. 3. Work at the edge of the sunlight and add bounced light from close to the model. You might use 2 reflectors - but remember to bounce the light from the Bright shade and not from the open sunlight. Because it's bright you wont need to be quite so close 4. We must do everything to avoid Squinty pictures - that's why we must avoid reflecting direct sunlight. 5. Take turns as the Photographer and as the assistant in charge of the Reflector
. Have fun but remember it's a serious business - let's see which group gets the best pictures. Take a group shot at the beginning and we will send you all of the images on our cameras
