10 tips to help you to succeed in the next 3 months
1. Make time for photography. DofE requires students to spend one hour every week working on their skill. Sometimes it might not be possible, and that's fine - you can catch up later.
2. Think about Light . When the skies are clear and bright grab your phone or camera and take pictures.
3. Take more pictures. Professional photographers shoot lots of pictures
4. Shoot your own pictures as well as the assignments.
5. Start editing from Week 1. Shoot lots but just send the best
6. Find the best light indoors as well. Avoid shooting with house lights (in the evenings).Use window light whenever possible
7. Stand Still
8. Muzzy is it ? ( an old news photographer joke) Out of Focus shots are the biggest danger.
Review your pics to make sure they are sharp and shoot more if they are muzzy.
9. When you send your pics we give you instant feedback. Read it and use the advice
10. Email us if you have any questions - we can't spend ages on individual issues in Zoom chats but we can follow up properly and address your individual needs via email.
Lesson 1
Lots of words already - so if you feel comfortable with basic camera or phone use - please go straight to the Alphabetography assignnment - and start shooting. Focus Lock is an important thing to learn but it's very easy on a phone and you can look back at it later
